Poll: Giant Martini Glasses or 80cm Conical Vases

Hepburn, 25 April, 2008 at 18:02 Posted on Planning 0 21

Which would you have for your centrepieces??

The conical ones are like tall tube tube vases but open a bit wider at the top.

Martini ones are literally giant martini glasses...

Which ones?

Personally I prefer the conical ones.

I would say tall conical or Trumpet vases. They are more elegant than the Martini vases.

We're having plum calla lillies, plum arinthiums, plum alstromeria, ivory and plum cimbidium orchids, avalanche roses, barraca, lillies and foliage.. Sorry for spelling!

I am worried the conical and trumpet ones would look like round lollipops on sticks!?

If you had martini glasses would you have more of your flowers inside IYSWIM?

PC - I'm not sure how the logistics of how my flowers would work in the martini vases yet, seeing our florist tomorrow... I'm thinking some kind of feature within the glass with the flowers coming out the top... Maybe!

I don't want to make a decision on vases till I've seen them in the flesh but its good to get honest opinions so keep them coming!!

    Hi
I`m having plum callas too-what colour are your BM dresses? (never heard of any of the other flowers youre having but they sound very nice!)
Also, what is your interpretation of plum? I thought burgundy then I looked at a plum and thought its a bit purple?!

I know what you mean re the lollipop thing... maybe you could make the martini ones look like the flowers are kind of overflowing like bubbles? looks pretty in my head but don't know how to explain!!

I've seen the calla lillies and they are definitely dark purple rather than burgundy.

Our BM dresses are dark purple and H2B is wearing the same colour dark purple cravat. It all matches really well!

I like the idea of cascading flowers out of the martini vases acidalia ?

No pics, but i thought i'd add my tuppence worth! ?

I'd go for Giant Martini glasses, because they're a bit different, and also you get some stunning arrangements but all your guests can see each other because they're only looking through the stalk IYSWIM?

I think someone who posted their report and pics recently had them, with green and purple - maybe Nicole34? but i could be making that up!! I know it was someone in the last day or so... (but not very helpful really am i!).

    HTH ?

I would vote for the Giant Martini glasses too, I have never seen them before and I do prefer them now.

You could also include some trailing ivy to hang over the sides of the glasses IYKWIM and even right down to the table. I am crap at explaining these things sorry

I think it all depends on the flower budget? I'd guess that giant martini glasses would be more expensive to fill than tall conical ones?

I love both either way! I'm personally having 60cm lilly vases with stargazer lillies and bear grass to keep costs down (opening at top is only 6.5cm).

    Thanks girls ?

Budget isn't an issue luckily which is good, I think the martini ones will be about £80 each while the conical ones are £62 each so I can really just choose the nicest ones IYSWIM?

I think I understand your idea willownat, think the trailing cascading idea is a good one!

I think I'm swaying towards the martini ones...

Both look lovely BUT if the venue has a sprung floor for dancing and the tables are on this area the martini vases are sometimes not stable enough on the tables and can go over when people walk past, so it is just something to think about.
