Pork belly cooking time question

jerseymonkey, 2 January, 2009 at 17:37 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

I have a smallish piece of pork belly (650g) and all the recipes I can find are based on much bigger pieces. For most joints the time's based on weight, but I don't know if that applies for slowroasting belly - does anyone know how long I should be cooking it (and approx what temperature - fan oven)?

If the receipe is for larger pieces, Cant you find one for double the weight and then just half all the cooking times?

Personally I would stick in in the oven on a number 3 for about an hour - to an hour an a half.

Ah, I don't think I was very clear - I'm not sure if the cooking by weight rules apply with pork belly given that it's a skinny piece of meat being slow cooked rather than a normal joint. Thanks though.

We recently went against convention with belly pork and did it hot and fast and it was really nice it made lovely crackling.
