Postage costs...is a first class stamp enough...

boogiebelle, 14 April, 2009 at 16:01 Posted on Planning 0 5

The invitations weigh between 25-30g

Is a first class stamp enough for them?

Looked at this site - and I read it that you can have up to 100g covered by a first class stamp. Am I right or reading it wrong?

TIA

I've been a busy little bee.

Went to S nieces bday party yesterday and then had friends round for dinner and today had to take Mum for a hospital appointment and then went to a flower mill to get flowers for top of the favour boxes - what a chore that was! Now trying to sort out invitations to send. Going to hand deliver most to save costs but ones that are further afield need to be posted.

Dad is a postman and gets 100 stamps for xmas every year so have got those and am hoping one will be enough on each invitation.

    Hi Boogiebelle,

It goes on size, as well as weight, so you need to measure your invites as well.

Ours were light enough but a tiny bit too thick in one part to be just first class - I'd definitely get them measured at the post office because it would be pretty embarrassing if all your guests had to pay the extra postage!

I would def get the post office to check them before you post. I had to buy another 15p stamp for each invite - otherwise guests would have had to pay £1 to go and pick them up! Can you imagine, not the best impression to make.

Do you have a picture of them? The weight won't be an issue as it is more about the size. They can't be thicker than 5mm and bigger than A5.
