PPD Allergy

I seem to have suddenly developed an allergy to PPD which is the active ingredient in many hair dyes. Has anyone else experienced this? If so have you managed to find an alternative hair dye without PPD?

Is it a month long dye?

ETA have you looked at the dyes which last 4-7 days as that is what my dad has to use after he suffered an awful reaction

I had an extreme reaction to PPD after years of dying my hair (hospitalised, swollen face, black eyes, weeping scalp) and I have been told never to use any hair dye again. I would advise you to do the same - you could react violently next time. The only option is packet dye according to my hairdresser friend - it's applied in foils and doesn't touch your scalp so is much safer.
