Present ideas needed for departing headteacher

Diamond Star Halo, 17 April, 2008 at 15:12 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

I chair the Parent Council at my son's school, and so am coordinating efforts to sort out a leaving gift for the Acting Head, who's about to leave. She's not been at the school long (started in Nov), but has had a very difficult job, as the school has had a number of problems, and part of her remit was to begin the process of sorting them out.

Anyway, she's done a great job, and I want to show parents' appreciation with a nice gift. So, any brilliant ideas?

If online, it will need to be something that can be delivered within a week.

At present I don't have a clear idea of budget, because we've only just asked for donations, but I'm working on the assumption that it'll be somewhere in the region of £50 - £80.

ETA she's in her 30s.

Bearing in mind the relative shortness of her time with you and the size of the budget, I'd go for flowers and champagne.

Unless you know of any specific interest she has ?

    Primary or secondary school?

    (There's a reason I'm asking!)

Our head got gardening tools and garden centre vouchers when she left, but that was because we knew it was a big interest of hers.
If you don't know her that well, stick to something safe like P&P suggested.

    It's Primary AmandaPanda.

As far as particular interests go, I really couldn't say, so you're probably right about sticking to something safe.

I'll ask around the staff though, find out if they know about any particular interests she has.

If she's a primary teacher, you can get personalised copies of the Allbherg (sp?) book "Please Mrs Butler", so "Please Miss Bloggs" or whatever. My sister is a primary teacher & was given one as part of a leaving gift from her old school.

Like the apple tree idea too, & some nice champagne (with flutes if £ allows) could be added to it to make a decent gift.

Looking for present ideas for a departing headteacher is such a thoughtful gesture! Personalized gifts like a custom plaque, a memory book from staff and students, or something related to their hobbies can really show appreciation for their leadership and impact. It’s all about celebrating their dedication and leaving them with a meaningful memento. Home Improvement

If you're looking for Moutamadris recommendations on the best leaving gift for a headteacher, thoughtful options within a £50–£80 budget include personalised jewellery, a framed word cloud of thank-you messages, a luxury hamper, a spa gift box, an experience voucher, or a quality leather accessory. These headteacher leaving gift ideas like Moutamadris are meaningful, practical, and available for fast online delivery. A signed card or memory book from parents, pupils, and staff remains the most treasured headteacher retirement gift, creating a lasting reminder of the positive impact they made.

A thoughtful gift could be something personal that recognizes the effort she has put into the school, especially since she has taken on such a challenging role in a short time. A nice engraved pen, quality diary, framed thank-you certificate signed by parents, or a gift voucher for a restaurant or spa could work well. You could also collect short messages from parents and children into a memory book, which would make the present much more meaningful. If you want something creative and memorable, you could even use a small theme or presentation idea inspired by something popular like Jenny Mod , simply as an example of making the gift presentation more distinctive. Since you have only a week, a local gift shop or a reputable online retailer with express delivery would probably be the safest option.
