pretty shoes for wide feet? Do they exist?!

Gone With The Whinge, 15 November, 2008 at 11:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 17

My present from H this year is going to be a pair of lovely going out shoes. I'm in need of a spot of help as to where to look, as I'll only have one shopping trip when we go to buy. I need:

- a heel, but not too high a heel so they are comfy enough to walk in

- I have wide feet, which is probably going to limit my choice a bit. Sick of being directed to granny shoes in Evans!

- Budget of £80

Would be greatful for any recs; I don't mind buying online if I can be confident that they won't arrive hideously narrow (I ordered a few pairs of Next shoes a while ago and the wide-fit ones were actually narrower than the normal ones, gah).

Try New Look as they do shoes for wide feet. They're fairly cheap though...although that means you can buy 3 or 4 pairs ?

Try Duo. I love their boots and they're now doing shoes as well.

Another rec for New Look. I have lots of pairs of their wide fit shoes, always been pleased with them. Well under your budget though!

Thanks. I'd looked at Duo as I have some boots from there, but the shoes are a bit on the plain side for me! Will have a look at New Look. At least H will be pleased with the price ?

Am a bit sick of only being able to buy from a few places tbh - went shopping the other day and even though some in Dorothy Perkins fitted, 4.5 inch heels? I ask you?!

I have wide feet and find that Nine West (sold at Debenhams, John Lewis, House of Fraser, Shoe Studio) are a very good fit. I've got about three pairs of their shoes and they are all really comfortable.

Another make I have found are quite a wide fitting are Roberto Vianni, although I don't know where actually stock the shoes because I've bought my pairs of flea bay, I just discovered by accident that they were quite a wide fit and really really comfy. I have a pink pair of court shoes made by him (not personally, I don't think ?) and I can walk in them all day.

I also second/third New Look, their shoes are always nice and comfy too.

Oh, and avoid Faith like the plague - they tempt you in with pretty shoes, and then you have to have stupidly thin feet (imo) to even get your big toe in ?

I've got some Roberto Vianni shoes actually, from Debenhams. They fitted really well but after sprogging, my feet expanded and never snapped back in ?. I will have a look at Nine West as I've often drooled over them.

Weirdly i find matalan shoes really good for my wide feet, though i do end up picking up about 15 pairs then trying them on and cutting down to 5 pairs.

marks and sparks do some though i'm picky about shoes not looking like eccos.

new look are reasonable but like matalan is a case of trying on many as i can't tell by looking if they'll fit.

    i'd love some duo boots..

Have a look on Vivaladiva.com They have lots in wide ranges, I got the shoes I wore as a bridesmaid there and they were fab. I have really wide feet, size 8 with a high instep so it's always a nightmare!

LK Bennett is sometimes worth a look as their shoes really vary. I have very wide feet (at least a G as a child ?) and half the shoes in LKB are way too narrow for me, but half are just right.

Kurt Geiger also seem to come up quite wide.

In cheaper ranges, M&S have nice shoes sometimes but you need to go to a good branch as their stock really varies.

They're not all granny in Evans-have you tried the website?
I despair of finding something nice. Most wide shoe places sell EEE fitting. I don't know what I am, but it's more than that. I'm a 5 and I'd need a 10 in EEE to get the right width ?
My feet are in fact the exact same shape as a size 5 crocs cayman, which is why I almost live in them.

I have skinny feet and find that New Look are really wide (not even the wide fit ones!), Barratts, Clarks and Next never fit me either.

Another vote for Kurt Geiger, I bought some recently for a ball. I have wide flat feet and an ankle problem and these were pretty comfortable, even at 2am!
