Pre-wedding beauty treatments/routines

Hannah, 3 November, 2021 at 19:08 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 5

I’m curious to know what people are doing for their pre-wedding skincare routine. Are you having regular treatments or tweakments? What products are you using in the run up? How far out are you from the wedding?

I love hearing about how other brides are preparing and sharing the love 💕

I use Temple Spa products, they are amazing and my skin feels so much better. My MUA said you should have a routine for at least 6 months before, so I got the starter pack, is about £90 but has cleanser, toner, moisturizer and a face mask and lasts for 4-6 months so is good value IMO. I wont be having any other salon treatments, especially near the date for fear I will have a reaction!

Skinnwise I've been having monthly facials and the week before my wedding I'm having a hydrafacial. I was skeptical at first but the difference has been amazing.

I put myself on a 'strict' skincare routine last year - before being engaged or anything, just to improve and take care of my skin - which gradually fell by the wayside, but since the New Year and with my wedding this autumn I have committed again to keeping it going. My fiancé jokes that when we go to bed he'll see my in an hour!

I had a copy of Caroline Hirons' 'Skincare' book which I used to devise my routine but she has so many articles on her website that I'm sure you could research things from there. I know research makes it sound scary, but I only mean understanding what skin type you've got - and therefore what products you use - and what products she'd recommend based on your age bracket.

My routine has most stages at night and I firstly do a double cleanse to take off my make-up (oil cleanser first, then jelly) followed by using a toner. Then I move onto an eye cream, niacinamide serum, hyaluronic acid and retinol before allowing that a few minutes to sink in and then applying my moisturiser. I used a mixture of Clinique, Glossier, No7, The Ordinary and The Inkey List. These products might not be suitable for your skin - for example, I use niacinamide as I have oily and historically blemish prone skin.

I'm sure if you look some things up you'll see, but just a word of warning that if you use a retinol you effectively need to build up to skin's tolerance to it as it can be quite harsh if overused so initially I did it every three days, then every other before applying it every night.

I'm very guilty of not doing this but we should always put an SPF on in the morning - something I'm trying to work on being very pale and ginger!

If you wanted to treat yourself to some salon treatments, I'd recommend testing them a few months before the wedding just in case your have a bad reaction to anything.

Hope that isn't too much information and something in there is useful!
