?Does anyone know the name of this place in Stock? Evidently its a private house which the owner hires out for wedding parties.

Is it Ingatestone Hall? Not quite Stock but only down the road! I went to a ball there last year organised by one of my friends. I believe they only have a handful of events there a year.

    Hi

No its not Ingatestone Hall. Frustrating thing is that when I google manor house Stock there's a link to a wedding magazine where a bride did a bit about using the house. But when I go onto the magazine's site the item's nowhere to be seen.

I've gone onto google this morning but can't even seen the link now!!!

I'm looking for either a really lovely restaurant near (staggering distance) to somewhere really nice that does b&b or a lovely inn. Preferably not modern - barny type or manor house - its for a regency style wedding and my son and future dil2b want something a little bit different. They are getting married at the Windmill in Rayleigh (newish venue) and looking for somewhere where they can take over a restaurant/dining room for about 40. Anywhere from Rayleigh to Stansted (they fly out the late afternoon the following day and would like to share breakfast with everyone).

If I can find the mag link then I'll contact the mag tomorrow and see if they can help.

It isn't any of these is it? Found a list of wedding venues in Essex, but it's quite long!

    Hi,

Unfortunately although this was a good idea, the place isn't listed. Think the guy just hires the place out for people to stay in (like a house party - which is what we're looking for) and I remember reading somewhere that a couple had a marquee for a reception there.

May head off to Stock tomorrow to see if the local shops know anything.

    Thanks for trying for me.

    Hi

    Any joy?

I went to primary school in Stock and it's a beautiful wee village, very pretty and quaint. Can't think of where you mention. Greenwoods is nice though. Could it be Lilystone Hall?

Stock is a lovely village and hasn't changed very much at all (except for one or two things). Greenwoods is a little too big now and with the addition of the health club is a little too modern.

I've checked this out but it appears that the Hall was turned into flats years ago. The thing I read was only about a year ago (I think!).

Think back to plan B - going to the village and speaking to the village stores or one of the pubs (any excuse!).

They have discounted this - its a 'whole' day hire at the Rectory and they're really only looking for an evening meal and then bed and breakfast. They'll only need somewhere from 6.30pm. If we could find somewhere like this (which is beginning to feel mythical) House in Stock, we could have a meal in a really nice restaurant in the village or have someone in to provide the meal for us.
