problems with glen pavillion dunfermline....

Hezza, 15 May, 2009 at 15:57 Posted on Planning 0 2

Afternoon everyone,

heres the thing, my BF was about to book the glen pavillion (which is a fife council run building) just for her wedding ceremony.

We've had serious probs where the boss in the venue is saying that she cant have the venue for the ceremony, she wants the smallest room in the venue for a couple of hours to have her ceremony in, However they are saying that they won't do it unless she has the full wedding there incl meals. now this room gets hired out for functions and allsorts but they are refusing to hire the room to my BF saying they cant do it due to them not eating there.

Its shoking in our opinion and just wondered what other people thik of this???

the reason she isnt eating there is mainly cost, its £30 a head for the meals which is fine but she has a venue for her reception that serves cheap drink and is doing her meals for £10 a head. which is amazing and they are gonna do everything that my BF wants.

Just wondering opinions on the glen?

Can't help on the venue side of things.

i'd say that the venue is probably holding out for someone who IS going to have the whole of their wedding there (especially if the date is during peak season). they're not going to make a huge amount of money out of a person renting a room for 2hrs for just a ceremony, but they are going to make lots of money from someone who will have their whole reception there. even though your friend wants it just for the ceremony, i'm sure the venue wouldn't book 2 weddings in on the same day in the same place, different time - a logistical nightmare (not to mention i'm sure no bride would want that)

i'm sure your friend is looking to save some money and get married in the nicest place possible, but the venues are also out to make as much money as possible. more than likely someone will come along, ask for that date, and want their reception and wedding there, and therefore spend more money.

    c'est la vie.
