Thanks, we hadn't been given any info sheets, we are going to Bristol, maybe they don't think we needed anymore info... He has had known kidney problems since birth, this speed has just scared us a bit.

Mr Nora had one but it was way back in 1986 so I'm guessing some of the procedure will possibly have changed. Is there anything particular you wanted to know?

Hope your son gets better soon, poor thing he must be in some pain.

Thanks, He has a duplex on the left and his pain had been on the right, it was only after another mag3 they realised it's his right one is in a mess.

Did Mr N have any problems after? and can he remember how long it was before he got back to day to day stuff? The surgery is hopefully laprascopic now.

Mr Nora was in hospital for 10 days and off work for 3 months as he was unable to lift (which he needed to do for work).

He says it was 12 months before all the muscle spasms and pain went away but his was a big op, not laprascopic. That will be MUCH better! He has a huge scar from his but it sounds like they do it totally different now so the recovery should be much quicker.

The only problems he has had since are lots of kidney stones due to all the scar tissue. That also resulted in needing pills to control his blood pressure.

    Hi ya.

I am a nurse that currently works on a urology ward however it is an adult ward not children ward. Although I would imagine that the procedure is similar.

The procedure is usually completed laposcopically. Usually stay in hospital after this procedure is about 3-4 days but will depend on recovery.

I hope this helps. If you have an questions, I can try to help.

Thanks, we thought that Ben had kidney stones because he got so ill so quickly, lots of pain and really sick. These men are sent to try us?, something we thought would give him problems in years not now, at least as a child he should forget a lot of it and at the moment he is seeing it as a chance to get more DS games?

Thanks again and thank Mr Nora,

Sometime they will put in a mesh stent in to hold open the area of blockage to ensure that the kidney remains draining effectively.
