Questions to ask at venues

Aimee, 7 of July of 2021 at 17:08 Posted on Planning 1 11
Hello everyone, I’m newly engaged! One week ago today it happened so exciting. We have our first viewing at a venue this Saturday and I wondered what sort of things should I ask?
Thanks in advance

    Congratulations!

    I asked questions I asked:

    recommended suppliers for decorations, DJ's etc

    whats included in the price (linens, table wear etc as some places don't provide it)

    do they have their own inhouse caterers or do you need to outsource

    is there a contracted amount that needs to be put behind the bar

    are they a cashless venue

    do they provide a toastmaster

    There's probably a million more but these are the ones off the top of my head x

    Thank you, there’s so much to think about. I’ll definitely add these to list. 😊

    Congratulations!!

    As well as those above, we asked about corkage/having to buy all our drinks from the venue (and if so, how much!);
    whether we could bring our own entertainment and restrictions (our venue is in a nature reserve and we have to have a noise limiter for the band);
    What time can you get into the venue and when do you have to leave?
    Is there parking and can guests leave cars overnight?
    Do they charge to cut your cake for you?
    Availability - can you get the date you want?!
    That’s all I can think of now - don’t forget you can always call/email them if there’s anything you think of after seeing the venue! Good luck x

    I have heard such a thing as "cakage" where if you use your wedding cake as the sweet and so only pay for a starter and a main.

    Ahh I see what you mean, seems like a possible saving there. All this to think about. 🤔

    Neither can I but I read that some places did it so didn’t want to end up with an unexpected cost...! Hope it goes well on Saturday x

    Ask about capacity - you don’t want to fall in love with a venue then find out it’s too big/small! Also what time you can have disco/bar till - some places have to turn music off if in residential area.

    Does the bar stay open for your guests who are staying over is what we wanted to know.
