Jobug, 3 June, 2008 at 00:09 Posted on Planning 0 6

My h2b is in the RAF and will be wearing his number ones for the wedding. His best friend isnt RAF an neither are any of the other males in the wedding party. We want them to all wear matching suits. his uniform is navy blue. Any ideas on what suits would look nice? Also i need choose my colours in general for the bridesmaids and everything.

Anyone had a wedding with the h2b in uniform? Would love to see pics. Jo

Hi Jo, my OH is in the Navy and wore his uniform. The best man was too, so that wasn't a problem, but none of the ushers or anything were. We tried a few options for suits, but most things looked too fussy against the uniforms, so we went for traditional morning suits in the end and they looked really good. Unfortunately, it was too long ago for me to have any digital photos!!!! My neighbour is in the RAF and I know he wore uniform, so I'l find out what they did....

Navy Blue suits for the other Men in the wedding party would look good.

You could have Lemon, Pink, Orange, Purple or Red as a contrast colour with navy blue. As the colours are dark i would add a lighter contrast colour. You could also use contrasting Blues

    Some ideas using Blue:

My OH was in the Army when we got married, and we have photographed a few forces weddings. I would actually say avoid trying to match suits with your OH, as it is unlikely you will be able to get the right match. I would prefer to see completely different suits than different variations of the same colour.

I have seen RAF with the other men in black suits, also in dark grey suits and both looked nice. Bridesmaid colours I think most would go, but I have seen reds that look nice (does it have a spot of red on it?)

We had cornflower blue bridesmaids, my OH wore a dark grey suit with the other men for the actual wedding in Vegas (too hot for his number ones) and then wore his Army set for our blessing. It was navy blue with a bit of red & white gloves. Like I said I have seen red, gold, blue, lemon and they all looked great.

I'd go for navy blue or grey suits for the other men. Don't worry about matching the colour exactly - as long as it tones in with the Number Ones it'll look great.

For your bridesmaids, red would be a great choice with the uniform, but silver of some description would also look fantastic. Dessy do some nice silvery colours - frost is a lovely pale silver grey, platinum is a bit darker. And they do taffeta in a colour called Silver Fox, which is a great gunmetal type colour (and because it's taffeta it has a beautiful sheen to it).

My H is army and he wore No1s, as did the BM. The ushers wore No2s and our dads wore their own suits. I pretty much agree with Texasgirl I don't think you should try too hard to match, IMO the uniforms are standalone. My bridesmaids wore champagne dresses and the rest of the colour scheme was wine red. I would send you a link to some pcitures but the website appears to be down at the moment.

I've been looking at tulips and i think i like purple ones so im going to look into the possibitlity of having that as my colour. Ads like grey for the bm and ushers so think we'll go for grey morning suits. That will be for his bm my bro who is usher and my dad, would it be ok for his dad to have a matching suit too?
