Rainy weddings :)

rachietown, 11 July, 2016 at 12:09 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi all!

So the big day is less than 2 weeks away (so excited!!) and the weather does not look as if it's going to clear up any time soon!

Our ceremony and reception are indoors and although we had planned to have canapes / champagne outside we do have the option of doing that indoors too so not too much of an issue.

However, we do want to get some photographs outside whether it rains or not as the venue is so beautiful (Skipton Castle)

Has anyone planned for the rain and found any pretty bridal umbrellas that would look nice in photographs but are functional too?

Is anyone else planning to get photographs outside regardless of the weather?

Not rain but I had snow isues so went on a brolly hunt. There are/were cheap ones online and I found m&s and debenhams had some nice ones. In the end I went for a clear plastic cheapo online rather than the more expensive ones with patterns round. NoMoore I think had the heart shaped one which is pretty and you can get some big double ones. In the end messy hair or not I preferred the snow on me. Some fantastic rainy wedding pictures on Pinterest. Have you got wellies? ☔

Let me be the first to tell you that 2 weeks is a long time for the British weather to have a heat wave, monsoon, hail, and back to a heatwave all in time for your wedding.

Ask your photographer to show you some inspiration for rain shots.

I also say this to others reading, that when looking at photographers work taken on beautiful sunny days - that's easy, but its also a good idea to check out what they can do when the going gets tough, I have a whole page and gallery dedicated to just bad weather/winter/indoor/dark wedding photography

I've been looking on eBay as I've been having similar thoughts for next year.

    Found these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEART-SHAPED-UMBRELLAS-IN-3-COLOUR-CHOICE-WEDDINGS-BIRTHDAYS-VALENTINE-BRIDES/181909996412?_trksid=p2045573.c100507.m3226&_trkparms=aid%3D555017%26algo%3DPL.CASSINI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20151016114640%26meid%3D524ef5a4580d44b8ae212c344977acec%26pid%3D100507%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26

I'd check with the venue if there is anywhere you can have pics outside, where there is an overhanging balcony/cover to shelter under.

    Here are some umbrella ideas:

Ordered this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Budget-White-Wedding-Umbrella-Frill/dp/B00EVW2AZQ/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1468272104&sr=8-17-spons&keywords=umbrella+bridal&psc=1 in Ivory and it arrived today, seems very good quality for the price, good size and automatic opening.

Do have some alternative wet weather shoes available...depending on location, these may be essential. If you have full length dress, they will be hidden, if not full length, make a feature of them......
