Reading at non religious ceremony

I'm thinking of asking my SIL to do a reading during our ceremony. I'm trying to find something that is read from her or orhers perspective rather than something me and my FH would read to each other if you get my drift. So basically nothing too soppy and maybe abit out there.Any ideas ?

    I had my best friend read this, don't know if this would be in your range as is not out there as such, but isnt soppy, is short and simple and I felt fit the meaning of the day
