I guess it depends how mature she is for a 9 year old, and how good she is at reading. I would have said Pooh Bear is a bit babyish for a 9 year old. Especially if she is confident enough to get up and read something!

    I like this:

    On your Wedding Day

Today is a day you will always remember
    The greatest in anyone’s life
You’ll start off the day just two people in love
And end it as Husband and Wife

It’s a brand new beginning the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although there’ll be time when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure

You’ll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken

So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It’s the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper ‘I do’

And with luck, all your hopes, and your dreams can be real
May success find its way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts.

Maybe you could edit some of it out to make it shorter, but a rhyme is good to listen too, and easy to practice.

Oh, theres a lovely one on 'being real' from the velveteen rabbit, or a passage between the prince and the fox from the little prince.

What sort of things does she like?

Does she read alot? if so she might eb able to suggest something herself she'd like to read?

My 8 year old stepdaughter read this at our wedding and everyone loved it -

Once upon a time, you two met,

You've shared much love and laughter.

I hope your marriage is a fairy tale,

    Happy Ever After.

I'm glad i'm in the fairy tale,

and you are two I guess.

    Congratulations King and Queen

    from your fairytale princess.

    My 11yr old Son read;

"To keep your marriage brimming, With love in the loving cup,

    Whenever you're wrong, admit it;

    Whenever you're right, shut up."

    Ogden Nash

We wanted something he could remember without reading from a page, so this was fairly easy for him.

(being the class show-off, he enjoyed his chance to perform!)

See how long she takes to read this. It should be approximately 15 seconds give or take a second to get best effect for delivery. Anything faster needs slowing down a little....

I know you said you'd found Winnie the Pooh ones, but this is one of my favourites, I bought my little girl a little Picture in a frame with this on and it always makes me blub...

""Pooh, promise you won't forget about me, ever. Not even when I'm a hundred."

Pooh thought for a little. "How old shall I be then?"

    "Ninety-nine."

Pooh Nodded. "I promise," he said."

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you."

    Smiley smile xx
