Reception after wedding (as in.. a different day!)

Tres, 1 April, 2021 at 17:37 Posted on Planning 0 2

Posted previously that we get married just us and kids in Gretna Green next year.

Still wondering if to have the reception (would be a local club, typical cheesy disco, buffet, cake, first dance)..if so, is it odd to wear the dress and suit etc and have kids in theirs as it would be a week after at the very least...

Does it not lose it's magic like that?

I’ve had a couple of friends who had very intimate weddings, either in this country or abroad, and then had larger receptions the next day/when they returned. The brides wore their dresses, grooms their suits and everyone dressed as they would have for a wedding. Just because it may not be directly ‘linked’ to your wedding day it doesn’t mean you can’t have a proper reception if that’s what you want.

I know loads of people who have had to have a very simple wedding because of Covid restrictions and who are planning on having a reception on their first anniversary, complete with wedding dress etc. So I don't think a week's gap is much at all!
