When are you getting married? What colours/themes are you going for?

Try looking in the sales in January for stuff.

My SIL2B went to Ikea on January 2nd or something crazy and got all the stuff for my wedding and it was ridiculously cheap. Pack of 4 candles for 50p etc.

Definitely try ebay as well as sometimes you can find some great bargains!

Thats a good idea.... I really am looking for ideas on stuff like should i go for drapes or just back drops, or leave all that and have some balloons...the actual decoration i have seen a theme of butterflies on Confetti i like that come out cheap.. but i kind of feel l ike i will have lovely tabels with chair covers etc and they will look out of place in a plain function hall - its not a lovely stately house or anything just a hall....

    Does that make sense??

That sounds similar to my hall.

To try and jazz the hall up a big we are having decorations up at the windows, will have some balloons to try and liven the place up. Fairy lights are always a brilliant idea, although in July when it wont get dark early I guess it might not do too much.

Have you made sure that your hall doesn't have any restrictions on what you can put up or where you can put things?

    Hi

I got married 3 weeks ago and i hated the room that we had as our reception venue, i almost cried when we went to set the room up for a trial run two weeks before the wedding but this is how it turned out with a little bit of hard work.

We bought a roll of cheap voil in our colours, hired a canister of helium, the caterers supplied the table clothes, and to be honest it didn't cost us a lot to do. Perhaps £100 and that included the hiring of the canister of helium. Oh and we hired some plants from a local garden centre which cost about £150 as well

I was so pleased with the room and everyone commented how lovely it looked.

The kind of place where you'd get gas bottles from. If you look in the yellow pages it should give you a list of suppliers in your local area. I think the place we had ours from was called BOC Gases

    Hi,

Look for organza snow rolls, you can buy them from ebay or any wholesale flower stockists.

It comes in 25m roles in a huge variety of colours and you can make table runners, place matts, chair bows from it. Costs about £7 > £8 a roll.

You can buy mirrored coasters/place matts that look lovely with a candle on them with some crystals scattered round, both can be bought cheaply from au naturale or other stockists, depending where you live.

Petals scattered on the tables/runners are a lovely touch.

I bought cute metal filigreed butterflies off ebay for a few pounds, painted them, and have stuck them on wire oasis twisted around big glass hurricane vases from poundstrecher that are selling for £3 each just now. Pop these on mirrored place mats with some pebbles or stones, stick a candle in and they look really chic.

Buy lots of tea lights from Ikea and you can get coloured ones from The Peir for about 25 to 50p each and pop on mirrored coasters.

    Hope this helps.

This is a great idea...Thank you so much i think i will look into this... just means i will have to find the time to decorate the hall myself??

Maybe i can use some of this material to do some drapes on the wall behind the top table i think companies that do this charge so much money its almost criminal!!! its a bit of fabric at the end of the day!!

Thanks so much i will get the t lights definatley
