Reception In Marquee In Grass Field

Emma, 24 October, 2022 at 21:58 Posted on Planning 0 4
Hi everyone. I got engaged on Saturday (it was such a romantic proposal, in my horse’s paddock with my horse and close members from both our families there).

We both love the idea of having a church ceremony in the village church and then having the reception in a marquee/teepee in our grass field. Has anyone got any advice/tips/advice on pricing/dos and don’ts for this type of reception?

We would want a professional company to supply and put up/take down the marquee and supply the furnishings and dance floor. We want a catering company to come in and do a sit down meal for the guests that attended the church ceremony and then we will have more guests arrive later on in the evening. We will want a bar, whether we have one in the marquee or have a mobile bar company park up near the marquee. We have plenty of room for parking. We have mains water but no mains electric. We are planning for a June 2024 wedding.
Any advice or anyone with experience of this type of reception they would like to share gratefully received.

Sounds like you have already got everything covered. From hooting many similar weddings I think the mains electric is taken care of by each supplier my means of little generators or its via the marquee/ tipi company, or the caterers may be using bottled gas. You did not mention loos, google posh loos for this.

Sami Tipi do a lot of work in our area.

    Entertainment - DJ,?

One thing with the route that you are going down is that it tends to work out more expensive than a package at a local venue, without all the work involved.

Reminds me of this wedding - their church is in the background.

No practical advice, but as a guest, the best wedding I have ever attended was one in the village church with a marquee in the bride's parents' field for the reception. So if it's doable and affordable, go for it!

Thank you for your positive reply. Can you remember what the evening reception was like? Did they do food for the evening? We are wanting a sit down meal early afternoon for the guests who attended the church ceremony and then are wanting to invite more people later on in the evening. We have thought about doing a hog roast for the evening.

Thank you for the reply, the field is a special place to us so it would be so nice to have the reception there. That is a stunning photo, what a lovely reception and dress.
