Reception Venues Darlington/Middlesbrough/Billingham

wolfamongsheep, 14 May, 2012 at 20:22 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone on here can suggest any venues in the North East area for our Wedding Reception?

I'm not looking for anything grand or fancy, ideally we want somewhere with a bar (Not major as we could hire one) that would let us get caterers in (BBQ/Hog Roast)

So far I've been looking at Community/Village Halls looking to book for a Friday but nothing seems suitable. We're looking to get married in Darlington Registry Office so anywhere nearby, or within an hours distance would be good.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Ashley

How about hurworth grange? Or asking somewhere like the hall garth hotel if they will do a hog roast.

I will have another look through my venue list to see where else there is.

I've literally just sent an email maybe an hour ago to Hurworth Grange! Do you have any idea of the prices they range from?

I know there aren't a lot of pictures on the website, but even just from looking at the outside I think it's beautiful!

I've shot a wedding in snods edge, north of darlo that has a nice village hall and there are a few nice village halls between darlo and Northallerton like east or west Rounton ( I cannot remember which one)

I'm not sure on the price, it's community run and registered as a charity I believe so reasonable in Price. The main hall needs dressing up a little but that's where you can be creative. One of few places around Darlington that will allow outside caterers and have some nice grounds.

That's really good to hear about the catering - at the minute that seems to be my sticking point with most venues! And I'm planning my wedding so far ahead so that I can (fingers crossed) do a lot of the decorations myself - or with a little help from some friends! Hopefully they get back to me or I'll just ring them in the morning!

Thanks for your help, by the way the pictures from the Snods Edge wedding are beautiful!

I've spoken to them today, they've been really helpful, given me rough prices as they aren't taking bookings for 2014 yet, also made me aware that Darlington Registry Office is open on a Saturday, which for some reason I didn't think it was!

Just want to get over to have a look around now and then probably keep pestering until they let me book!

    Hi everyone!

I've booked Darlington Registry Office for the big day! I just wondered does anyone have any information on the Central Hall that they mention on the website?

The only real mention I can find is that it's used for larger ceremonies - does this mean that it's an option for a wedding, or is it only used for other things?

How many guests were you planning of having? It is an option for a wedding service but it's basically part of the dolphin centre that is sanctioned for weddings, I know if it but out of 6 years of photographing weddings I've never known a wedding being held in it.

Well firstly we were trying to get it down to 80, then I made a list of the people I would actually want there and that was about 120 ish, if it came down to it we'd have to be harsh and have no cousins or something.

I just wanted to know so I can realistically look at who can/can't come!

    Thanks Smiley smile

I would imagine for the central hall it could fit a lot more than 120 in to the extent where it may not be enough as the hall could fit a few hundred, I could be wrong but I think it's a big hall.

I would speak to them and see what they advise, are you still planning on using the hurworth grange?

I'm going down to visit next month, they aren't taking bookings for 2014 yet, so I want to go have a look see if I like it, and then probably keep pestering them until they let me book!

And thanks for the advice on the registry office, I'm just waiting on them confirming that they've received my cheque for the deposit!
