Recommendations for traditional sunday lunch on the Wirral

jelly baby, 9 December, 2008 at 19:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

Wondering if anyone here can help. We are visiting my grandmother next weekend and want to go out for a traditional Sunday lunch (it will be our Christmas day as am spending Xmas day with in-laws)

She has suggested the pub at the end of her road but it's not really what I want. I want something that feels a bit special.

Wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere ?

You may not get a table for some of the good restaurants - but try The Manor (greasby), Devon Doorway (heswall), River Hill (oxton), Garretts (Bebington). HTH Edited to ask where you are on Wirral and what the pub is called?

Funnily enough we had been thinking about The Manor but they don't seem to do a traditional Sunday lunch otherwise that would be ideal as she lives in Greasby.

Will look into the others too.

My mum rang them and they emailed her a copy of the menu and it didn't really have anything "sunday lunch" ish on it. It might be worth me giving them a call because she's not always very good at saying exactly what she means.

The website doesnt show a sunday lunch menu - but i am sure they do. like most restuarants i think they have different menus on different times/days week.

Give the Manor a call as I am sure I've had Sunday lunch there, they might just be on the specials for Sundays.

There is also Pollards Inn in Neston Village which has just been taken over. If you fancy a drive to chavy New Brighton the Queens on the front has a very good reputation for a good sunday carvery.

Another one here that has had a Sunday lunch at The Manor.

Pollard's is in Willaston not Neston ? - It's also my local when I'm home. The service at Pollard's was abysmal, I'm so glad it's been taken over.

The Cowshed at the Thatch in Raby is nice, I can't find a link online to see the menu though sorry.

If you fancy a bit of a drive the Cheshire Cat in Christleton is nice, they have lovely log fires too and a canal running behind the pub which is nice for a walk along.

The lobster grill in Parkgate also does nice lunches. I've not had Sunday lunch there but OH had it when we were there and he said it was nice.
