Registrar and celebrant at the wedding

Elouise, 18 January, 2026 at 12:17 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 5
Hello!

I’m getting married in October and we wanted to do a handfasting and unity candle for our ceremony, I’ve ready that registrars can’t perform these as the legal and belief aspects needs to be kept separate.
I will message the district we are getting married in but I was wondering if anyone has experience with having both a celebrant and registrar at their wedding? How did people make it work, did you have the celebrant lead first and then go off to sign a marriage certificate with a couple of witnesses? Or both at the same time? I’m just very confused and any experience or help would be amazing 😄

Registrar and celebrant at the wedding are asking a too much money for wedding register but it is compulsory for wedding and you will get services from any registered wedding registrar.

Congratulations! 😊 I’ve seen quite a few couples do both. Usually the celebrant leads the main ceremony first (including the handfasting and unity candle), then the registrar steps in for the legal wording and signing with the witnesses. Some venues also do the legal part separately either before or after the ceremony , so it really depends on the district/registrar rules. Definitely worth checking with your local registrar, but it’s totally possible to include both in the same day and make it flow naturally 😊

It’s always a good idea to stay on top of bills before important events like a wedding 😄. In Pakistan, a lot of people now just use online tools like GEPCO bill check to quickly view their electricity details without any hassle.
