Soooo we have booked the venue (provisionally) but we are going to book the registrar soon. When do you pay for the registrar ? Is it at the first meeting ?

When you ring the council they will ask for full payment to secure the date and time x

I think it varies from council to council, since we were able to provisionally book our date and time by phone and then paid when we had our appointment. So it's probably best to check with them.

Think it depends on council. In Surrey, I had to email and got a booking link to fill in online. Had to pay in full online to secure date even though wedding was nearly 2 years away at that point. Also have to book appointments at an additional cost of £35 per person no later than 3 months before the wedding.
