Can someone pleaseeee help!!!

I am due to get married in 2025 and when we’ve gone to book the registrar, the time we wanted has been taken.
What are our options now?
Thanks in advance

You could either change the date of your celebration, or alternatively, have the legal ceremony on an earlier (or later) date and have some kind of wedding blessing/vow renewal on your 'wedding day'.

What time did you want? Could you change your schedule to have an earlier or later ceremony?

We wanted 1pm as we feel as though this gives us enough time to get ready in the morning as our bridal party is of a good size and it’ll give us enough time to enjoy our day and not rush everything if we had it later x

Do they have other availability on that day? How close to 1pm can they come? It might be possible to rearrange some things (e.g. have a 'first look' and some couple photos before the ceremony) so that you won't be so rushed. Or draft in another hairdresser/MUA.

Hi there! Would you consider having a humanist instead of a registrar. Might be worth considering. Hope you get something sorted x

Scotland has different marriage regulations to England and Wales - a humanist celebrant would not be able to perform a legally binding marriage ceremony, though there is nothing to stop anyone having such a ceremony before or after the legal one.

What times do they have available? Personally I think 1pm is too early for a wedding ceremony anyway as it often leads to a lot of hanging around for guests while you wait to get to the party portion of the evening…unless you aren’t having a traditional reception of course?

Thanks for your replies . The issue is all of our guest will be travelling a couple hundred miles to attend, mostly either the night before after they’ve finished work or on the day so 11am just would not be realistic. On the other hand we are making guest come all that way, like you say, we don’t want to waste most of the day hanging around until 4pm. Maybe we don’t ‘need’ it to be at any time but also the venue have suggested 1/1.30 is the best time from their experience. I guess I was wondering if other people had done their day in a different order to traditional or had any other ideas!

I would assume most guests are going to be travelling the night before, since 200 miles is a long journey to do immediately before a wedding. So you could do 11am.

Alternatively, you could have the photos and main meal first, followed by the ceremony at 4pm and then the evening party. Totally non traditional, but will anyone really mind?

Or just get the legal stuff done at the registry office and then have some kind of blessing/personal ceremony at your preferred time of 1/1.30.

Have you actually spoke to the Registrar or are you looking at some sort of online booking system, because from where I live the maximum amount of months in advance you can book a registrar is 12 months

We’ve got a celebrant instead of a registrar, we actually opted for one instead! The legal bit doesn’t matter to us on the day - we just wanted a more personal ceremony where we can include whatever we want Smiley smile I definitely recommend looking them up, they’ve got some good ones on here x
