Registry office wedding

Andrew, 17 November, 2022 at 17:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I'm trying to find a registry office that has availability in the next few months. There are no guests so just want the 2 witness option. Is there anyway of finding this information. The earliest date at our local registry office is October next year.

I do not think there is a centralised place to check, unfortunately I think it is just a case of calling up registry offices and asking for availability. Just one thing to bear in mind, you have to give notice at your local registry office at least 29 days prior to the ceremony, unless there is an extenuating circumstance. It may be worth first seeing what you local registry office is like for appointments on giving notice. I apologise if you have done/ knew all of this beforehand!

We looked into a statutory ceremony when we first decided to get married and it seemed like registry offices don't do them often, maybe because they don't charge much for them so want to have more availability for the expensive options. One registry office only did them one day a month so you will have limited options if you want to get married that way. Could you look at availability for a normal registry ceremony and just don't invite any guests? They are more expensive but you could get married earlier.

Agree with Ellen that you are restricted to when you can get an appointment to give notice so I would enquire on that first as it will set your earliest possible wedding date.

You must first collect information and then make a decision!
