Rememberance/poppy themed wedding?

Just wanted to say I think thats a lovely idea, part of our honeymoon is visiting the D Day landing beaches as me and OH love our history ?

This has just made me think of the dress I saw in the Jane Norman window...

You could have poppy appeal donations instead of favours too...

Amazing idea id love to do that but im off to morroco but i will soon.

im trying to find table names im thinking rather then beaches we coud have words associated with war

im not sure ? any ideas on words that would fit we have 6 tables.

A couple of ideas spring to mind.

- a wartime vehicle for arriving at your church/venue/whatever.

- a 1940s band for the evening (or a full 'VE celebration' event if your venue would allow you to decorate.

- You could have 'ration book' style order of the day/invitations (if they haven't already been sent out).

Lovely idea, I like the Red & Black as a theme too. You can get some very realistic Poppies, did you want them as a bouquet or just a single poppy?

Thesea re just a few that I can get :

Sherrie i like the deep red one (third picture) maybe three flowers with some decor of some kind? i think that coulkd be quite classy or maybe a mixture of a few kinds ? i want it to be unique. yet dramatic.

Yep that can be done. Those are quite large so you would only need 3 of them and can add some black foliage with it.

I think that is such a lovely idea Poppies are not only beautiful, but the symbolism is amazing and very emotive.

We are doing a similar thing in terms of donations, we have lots of animals at home, and rather that have people buy us drinks or things we dont need - we are going to ask them to put a donation in our animal box if they wish to, then the weekend after our wedding we are going to take the box down to the local animal shelter and give them whatever cash we made from donations.

Im also doing a poppy themed wedding this year ( my chap i in the navy), you cant get fresh poppys that time of year but you can get hold of silk poppys which are lovely too.
