Repairing Birkenstocks

HeidiHole, 2 April, 2009 at 08:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 15

I love my birkies, but after 4 years the sole has started to wear down to the cork. Can you get them repaired and if you can is it worth it or tres expensive?

I do have another pair and will quite possibly be purchasing more if I can find the raspberry patent ones anywhere, but I llllllllove my silver ones and want to save them if I can.

Fankoo ?

I think it will probably cost a lot (esp if you get birkenstock to do it).

Have you looked in TK Maxx? they're always awash with them. It might be a bit early yet. Are you a 36? I'll keep my eyes peeled when out and about?

Yip a 36. I thought it might be costly to send them to Birkenstock, ah well.

Last year they had a gorgeous pair of Madrids that were patent raspberry with a pink and orange stripe around the sole, sounds vile but were lovely. They were in aid of Breast Cancer research but I couldn't get them anywhere, sold out the minute they were released.

I've a baby pink pair that are a 37 but are (obv) too big for me, I might flog them to fund the patent ones I lust after, do people buy worn birkenstocks ?

Thanks, PODella, there's no TKs out in the sticks. ?

Suspect the market for worn birks might be limited. Foot indentations and all that but there might a strange man who would be happy to pay to sniff them....

Try Costco, I bought myself my 2009 pair of Birkies there a few weeks ago (they still have loads) and I got a lovely pair of red patent ones, they are lush

HH I know the Madrids you are talking about as I was too lusting after them. Have you tried Schuh online? I bought my gorgeous blue floral ones from there early last year.

I have a feeling I'm going to be living in my birkies this year ?

I didn't find them that comfortable at first but once you've worn them a couple of times they are. My feet don't swell or sweat in them like they do in other sandals. Especially in 40degree heat! I think they look chunky on my feet when I look down but under linen trousers they are fine.

Ooh, Sun, they're lovely! Well done, you ?

Birkies take a bit of breaking in while the footbed moulds to your footshape, but once that's done they really are the most confortable things I've ever owned. I took mine out of the wardrobe a couple of weeks back when the sun came out and it was like putting on a favourite pair of slippers, I may even have sighed as I put my feet into them ?

KB3, you're not a size 37 are you? And wanting a baby pink pair of slightly used Birkenstocks? ?

HH this site offers repairs, they also have a store on the bay of flea selling them cheaply.

    The Natural shoe store

I too adore the birkies, I have about 5 pairs, it's the only sandal that my funny shaped feet can keep on. Yes they are a tad uncomfortable when new but after that are just wonderful. I hate it when winter arrives and I have to part with them for a few months. I am always amazed at how heavy other shoes feel when I try them on. Mine are back on the feet for the foreseeable future, love'em!

Sadly not Hole, I'm a size 6 so what's that a 39? I'd have gladly taken them off of your hands, I need to save as much money as possible this summer.
