Reward Credit Card

Emily, 3 June, 2022 at 12:53 Posted on Planning 0 4
Hello

We are thinking of opening a reward credit card to pay for the wedding to earn points towards the honeymoon! Has anyone else done this before? We have good credit score so hopefully would be accepted for it. We have savings so would be able to pay off the credit card instantly.

We've done this with Amex and got a companion voucher and airmiles via it. A lot of places wouldn't take Amex for the wedding though but it worked out as we also shoved all of our regular expenses on it. We got the more expensive Amex with the yearly fee and so long as we do a long haul holiday in the next year or two (was meant to be for honeymoon but due to covid we're only going to italy) it'll be worth having done it.

We debated this but decided against after advice on this forum - some cards aren't accepted and some retailers ask for bank transfers meaning that you don't actually use your credit card for big purchases, there's also windows of how much you need to spend within certain months to avoid being charged which isn't always practical Smiley sad

Only one of my suppliers has accepted a credit card, it has all been bank transfer otherwise so we haven’t taken a credit card out but I applied for an advance on my mortgage as I have lots of equity in the property. The money hasn’t been approved yet but I’ve been extremely lucky that my parents are paying for the reception and my dress!

Reward credit cards shine when paired with the Pax A35. Merchantrolls’ Pax A35 Android MSR EMV NFC multi-lane PIN pad enables contactless rewards, fast tokenization, EMV security, and easy reconciliation. Retailers gain quicker loyalty redemption, reduced checkout friction, and higher repeat purchases through secure, seamless reward-capable payments and measurable ROI.
