Devastated to hear he has died. I loved him!!! I met him when I was younger and he sat and chatted to me for ages, he was so, so lovely.

    I'm totally shocked and gutted. He was one of the all time greatest story tellers. He could bring any story to life and make it magical.

    I'm absolutely gutted. I've loved Rik Mayall for as long as I can remember. The overly dramatic comedy violence and "funny dancing" during the credits for bottom used to have me and my brother in hysterics as kids- i've pretty much followed everything he's done since then.

    My friend sent off for a signed photo from him for me for my 21st birthday and he sent back a personalised one- best present ever. Think this sad news will finally spur me on to dig it out of the boxes we've still not unpacked and get it up in the house somewhere. RIP Rik ☹️

    I loved all his work. Such a versatile master of his profession. A sad loss to the world of British comedy and acting/writing.

    Growing up in the 80's as a teenager i loved all the young ones, bottom, then black adder etc
