Romantic Honeymoon Winter / Christmas Breaks in the UK ? xx

Christmas Bride 2012, 6 June, 2011 at 07:41 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi , we are having a winter / christmas wedding and would love to have a UK based break away as for one I hate flying and two its winter months and so therefore even abroad it is going to be cooler unless we go really far. Has anyone any ideas of any luxury winter breaks or cosy log cabins and romantic little places to stay in the Uk ? Thank you in advance xx

We stayed in Otter Pool Lodge just outside Aviemore in December just gone, and we both agreed it was the most romantic holiday we'd been on.

    Hello

Cameron House up at Loch Lomond is really nice, we went for my 30th and absolutely loved the place. They have the main hotel and also log cabins, both are worth looking at.

This is where I took my OH for his birthday https://www.knockderryhouse.co.uk/

It was very romantic, gorgeous log fire, cold outside but very warm and cosy inside and the scenery is breath taking.

I'd recommend going to a city, then if the weather is bad you still have lots to do. Some ideas:

    • Edinburgh is fab and this hotel is meant to be amazing - http://www.thebalmoralhotel.com/.
    • York is meant to be really nice too, very romantic with the big cathedral
    • Lake District is also an option and staying in a spa hotel - but if we get snow like last time you might get snowed in - maybe not a bad thing :-)

We have an apartment between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales which we opened recently and which might be of interest to you.

It's in Kendal and there are lovely views of the River Kent, Stramongate Bridge and Kendal Castle and, despite being a tranquil location, you have town within easy walking distance, where you will a number of good restaurants.

Then of course there's also two National Parks (the Lakes and the Dales) a short drive away...

You can find details at http://www.kendalcottages.com

There was also a news article in the local press recently because we were voted as the overall winner in Holiday Lettings 2011 Hall of Fame, chosen from more than 45,000 properties across over 100 countries! That article is here: http://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/news/9034698.South_Lakes_holiday_apartment_named__best_in_world_/

Feel free to email me on stay at kendalcottages dot com if you have any specific questions you'd like to ask...

My brother takes his OH here:

They went last December and took a trip to the nearby Conwy castle, but mostly wanted relaxation time in the private hot tub!
