Rounds or rectangles?

Kayleigh, 9 February, 2022 at 10:18 Posted on Planning 0 9
What are people going for table wise?
They've put rounds on my booking but I can change that if I want. I'm so unsure about how to set everyone 😭

We are having round as I feel it is more social and people can see and talk to everyone on the table

I think rectangles are more sociable. With a round table you can see everyone but you’re much further away and can realistically only talk to the people either side of you. With rectangular tables you can talk to the people either side of you, and the three people opposite you and your neighbours

I'm going for round tables, it feels a bit more weddingy to me! Easier to socialise across all angles and chat as a collective table too, rather than just who is next to and opposite to you.

We’re having round tables - I think it will be more social and also easier for us to move around and talk to people (our alternative option was really long tables and I think it’s too easy to get stuck on the wrong side!). Also, I don’t want anyone stuck on an end and round tables avoid that. Also agree with Chloe that round tables somehow feel more weddingy!

Unless the round tables are huge, I'd go for them, since it's easier to talk to everyone. I've been to a few weddings with rectangular tables, and for some reason, people always end up talking to those immediately next to them, which means you only get to talk to two people each. And if you're the one stuck in the middle, with the people either side talking to their neighbours, it gets very boring!

Definitely trestle tables. Having been to lots of weddings/conference dinners etc I find round tables are very limiting and you can only really talk to those either side of you but can talk to a wider group on a trestle.

Also trestles reduce the faff of having to have people in groups of eg 10 and trying to slot smaller subsections of family/friends into them.

I have shot 100s of weddings and mainly see round tables - except for the top table which generally is not round. The main venues that I see rectangle tables are ones that have long narrow wedding breakfast spaces.

10 on a round table seems to be the max but for some venues 10 looks a squeeze, as its round you don't have to have 10 around it.

I just wonder if the main reason for round tables is that 1 person can roll it around and back into storage as they seem to be a base and a separate round of wood ontop,

Round definitely allows people to chat easier. It depends on the vibe of your venue tbh, as a lot of more trendy places have long rectangular tables! We are going to have round Smiley smile

I also think a round table is more appropriate. In energetic terms, this object is the center of attraction of friends
