Rules on ceremony music?

Yasmin, 17 September, 2024 at 09:23 Posted on Planning 0 2
I'm an alt bride and music is really important to me, so I'm struggling a bit to curate a list of songs to present to our registrar for suitability checks. Can anyone advise on how strict they are with profanity, like where is the line? To me some of the songs don't have profanity but it might be subjective? E.g some of the lines are "lord have mercy" (Shut up and Kiss Me - Whitesnake), "you could drag me through hell if it meant I could hold your hand" (Follow You - Bring Me The Horizon) etc. If there are any other alt brides here with experience of this I'd love to hear your stories!! Thank you Smiley smile

I think it will depend on the registrar and the relevant council. For the most part they probably don't care, I think the main thing is they're not meant to be religious so having gospel music would be more of an issue than Rage Against the Machine potentially! I think you'll be fine anyway as long as it's not like... literally Rage Against the Machine

"you could drag me through hell if it meant I could hold your hand"

These would come under the "no religious music" rules - yes it is that strict.
