Run out of money ...!

MayDay, 18 July, 2008 at 17:02 Posted on Planning 0 17

[:'(] Having just paid an £800 deposit for my dress and over £300 for the registrar, I have officially run out of money for the time being and am feeling very upset I can't go and buy more things this month for the wedding! I'm determined not to put ANYTHING on the credit card and instead pay cash as I go along... but have seen some perfect shoes for £50 and gorgeous teddy for my baby flowergirl for £20. I have ages to go but want to spread the cost...it feels like my food, car and household bills are taking priority and it's very distressing!! Anyone else feeling the pinch? [:'(]

I know how you feel. I can't believe my car takes £60 to fill up now and I'm going through more petrol than usual so all my budgeting has gone out the window. Our mortage needs changed over in 18 months and I'm dreading the new rates. I sometimes wonder how much longer we can go on paying out so much but we will just need to. I'm extremely lucky that my parents are paying the majority of our wedding otherwise it wouldn't be happening next year.

Hey at least you have your jewellery! ?

i certainly am, but not because of the wedding. Ive only spent £110 so far, and only have a small ammount to spend. We dont have spare money at the end of the month to put towards the wedding, and without my and his parents help there wouldnt be a wedding at all!!!

I think you are being very sensible by spreading the cost. Just make a note of where you see things and how much they are, then maybe you can have a big splurge once a month?

I finally found the invitations i want to order this week, but i cant afford them till im paid. Smiley sad

We always struggle tbh, but this month is really bad as i stopped being paid weekly, and so havent been paid - and wont be until the last working day! Living on our little bit saved for our holiday at the mo!!

Ha ha...Donna there is NO WAY you can NOT buy Heinz baked beans...I'm sorry but there are some compromises I will NOT make! Although I am trying to persuade H2B to drink filtered water as he has a thing for buying bottled water which costs a fortune (have secretly been filling up his empty bottles with filter water and he hasn't noticed (tee hee). Purrfectgems..you are right...I have my lovely jewellry...maybe I can keep taking that out of the drawer this month to keep me going as a wedding fix. x

MayDay just live in Scotland and you don't need to filter the water! It's probably cheaper to live here as well.

Yeah use your jewellery and picture of your GORGEOUS dress to keep you going. It's so miserable when I decide not to go out cos of the petrol prices!

Wow - £800 dress DEPOSIT - my dress was only £500 total.

My advice would be to re-look at your budget, don't impulse buy and consider what's important to you and spend in those areas. IMO you don't need to spend £50 on the shoes if they're bridal as you won't wear them again but if they're more like standard shoes then they could be an investment. Mine were £25 for Barratts sparkly sandals and they were gorgeous.

Always have a look on Ebay before buying fro other places. You may just get a bargain...I know I have loads of times.

What are the shoes like? How long before your wedding?

I think we are all in the same boat but there are ways you can cut down for the wedding. Have a good look at your wedding budget and see if you can make any changes. Eg I fell in love with a bertetex dress for almost 1k and then found someone to make it (more or less) for £400. And definitely expensive shoes, invites, favors just aren't worth it...

    Wow !!!

I have organised my wedding on such a cheap budget, u will laugh but I have shopped around and bought the majority of items on ebay and other internet sites, I had all my dresses and waistcoats made in china at a fraction of the cost, and they look no different to the shops the quality is amazing, £350 for 3 gorgeous bm dresses, out of this world bridal dress and 5 waistcoats , shoes that were in the shops for £90 i have picked up brand new from ebay for £30 with a unique matching clutch bag, 4 bouquets of silk flowers for £25... my list goes on.......

I had a budget of 3.k and have managed to pay for all the wedding items (including all outfits, shoes, flowers, jewelerry, favours and favour boxes, chair bows, table decs, wedding cake, gifts, 18 ct white gold wedding rings, etc) wedding, wedding brekkie, evening do and disco, and all inclusive honeymoon to cyprus plus a few items of beachwear for the hm lol.

A lot of ppl have said I should set up a little business on the side as budget brides, cheap and definitley not tacky, i cant wait now for the day to arrive.

Oh how I will miss all this after the wedding lol, but if anyone wants any help or advise .........

I'd agree with this. My budget is £7000, the majority is going on the reception. I got my dress ( ex-display from bridal shop ) on ebay for £50!

Shoes were £12 in the sale, tiara, veil etc will be off e-bay too

I get a buzz out of getting a bargain, call me tight, but I know we will have enough money for a fantastic day, even if we have to compromise on certain things

I think the fact that your shoes are comfortable is very important but apart from this new idea of the photographers taking photos of the shoes beforehand no one really sees them!
My teddy bears are a lot less than £20.00 and hitched ladies seem to think they are gorgeous!
Money is a nightmare especially when planning weddings - it all adds up so quickly.
    xx

Mrs B2b , I agree I have had such a great time organising the wedding on a tight budget, I love hunting for bargains and get a real adrenaline rush when I have bought something cheaper.

I dont think you are tight at all , at least if you have money left over it will cover any unexpected issues or even money for your new life together.

There wasnt a lot of items for the wedding that I didnt buy from ebay lol, I love it x

Hee hee me too, I have gotten a lot my my stuff either from ebay or amazon.com. In total I have spent £1000 on my day, including all the wedding party gifts etc, there is nothing I am missing out on either nor do I feel I have scrimped anywhere. I have made the majority of my wedding things myself ie the invites thankyou cards, and favors and loved every minute of it! Although I do have to admit my photos are being done by my brother in law and my other one is doing the filming. I am not bothering to get him to make me up a wedding album and I have made a start on my wedding scrapbook and I prefer it to just having photos in it.

It really does feel overwhelming when life piles up with wedding expenses on one side and normal bills on the other. When I hit a similar moment and needed a small mental break from thinking about budgets, I ended up stumbling onto https://wg-casinos.uk/ and oddly enough it worked as a quick distraction. The platform is simple and doesn’t overload you, just straightforward online casino games where you can jump in, make a tiny deposit if you feel like it, and switch off for a few minutes. It's not a fix for the stress, of course, but having a light game to reset my mind helped me stop spiraling about money for a bit and get back to planning things more calmly.

Totally get how you’re feeling - wedding planning is supposed to be exciting, but the constant stream of deposits and “little extras” adds up so fast it becomes stressful instead of fun. And honestly, sticking to your rule of not using the credit card is really smart. It feels limiting now, but you’ll thank yourself later for not starting married life with debt for shoes and decorations.

You’ve still got plenty of time, and those cute things will still pop up again when the budget loosens a bit. For now, try to focus on the big picture - the important stuff is getting paid for, even if it doesn’t feel glamorous.

When I need to take my mind off money stress, I usually unwind with something light and distraction-friendly, like fast payout casinos - totally free, no spending, just something to relax with for a few minutes. Helps me reset a bit without adding to the bills.

Also, baue alte Schulden ab, die mich nerven. Ständig kleine Minus, dachte wird nix. Hab auf https://spin-granny.at Gas gegeben und in Wolf Gold einen Hammer-Treffer gelandet. Schulden deutlich runter. Für Österreicher top Boni extra. Definitiv dabei bleiben.
