S - Max or Grande Picasso - or any alternatives?

janeyh, 13 May, 2008 at 22:56 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

Favouring the s- max at the minute as we tested the citroen and it was bit floaty and clunky gear changes - but would like to hear any opinions or alternative suggestions - need something with 3 proper seats in the middle row, would like a seat or two in the back - but prefer to have ones that pop into the boot rather than ones you have to remove for extra space - also a bit of space in the back when the boot seats are up

is there anything else out there that will do this?

    Vauxhall Zaffira.

We had one a few years back and my OH loved it - we had the 2.2 TD. He used to love zooming ahead of the boy racers at traffic lights, bless.

Just asked OH and he says you'll not get a better people carrier than the S-Max. Excellent build quality & holds its value.

    He's a car bore.

I've driven a few Citroens over the past few years and I've gone off them - I believe they are good value for money, but I dislike the plasticky look of them. I currently drive a Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0TDi and whilst there are things I like about it (boot space, generous seat space, high up drive), there is too much I dislike (drives like a tank - H refuses to drive it, plastic interior, dislike the dash layout etc).

I have been looking around, anticipating my next car and I think we're going to opt for a Ford S-Max, it'll be a diesel again.

Have you considered a VW Touran? That drives nicely too and VW do some nice engines. Or a Zafira (I don't know why but I can't warm to these).

My friend has just got a Renault Grand Scenic - that might work for you. Although personally I wouldn't be giving anything other than the S-Max a second thought, I love them and don't even need a people carrier type car.

    Thanks all

i dont really like zafiras either - i think mainly because of those shocking ads with the fat middle aged children

the touran looks lovely but i dont think we can afford it really

    looks like an smax then

I have a grand Picasso and I love it, it's really user friendly. We have 5 kids and it easily fits in 7 adults.

It is lovely - but if you have the back seats up you can barely fit a handbag in the boot

it is lovely but I do agree with you, I am not sure if I would want one if I still had a pram.
