There was a Spicy Lasagne for a Fiver:

    500g beef mince

    40g medium mature cheddar

    1 loose onion

    2 loose courgettes

    500g tomato & chilli sauce

    250g egg lasagne

    Total £4.88

Oh - now I am confused! It was definately a Jamie Oliver FYFFAF advert but I am sure there was spinach in it. I don't think it would have been the ricotta one as I loath the stuff.... ? I am easily confused mind, damn pregnancy brain!

    Thanks ladies!

You can thank my husband for this one since he's the one who picked up a pile of recipe cards at a food festival we went to:

Fry a peeled sliced red onion and 2 peeled cloves garlic in a pan. Add 500g beef mince and cook for 5 minutes then add 1x 600g pot Napoletana sauce and cook on a medium heat for another 5 minutes.

Meanwhile preheat oven to 200'c/180'c fan oven/gas mark 6. Lighty grease a baking dish and place 3 lasagne sheets along the bottom. Cover with a layer of mince mixture and top with a generous layer of cheese sauce and young leaf spinach. Repeat twice, finising with a layer of cheese sauce. Sprinkle with parmesan and cook for 35mins until piping hot.

Think I might ask hubby when he's planning on making it....

Where's the bechemel sauce? Surely he doesn't just throw cheddar over the top?

And it costs less to make the sauce than buy a jar of it. And it won't be so full of sugar and salt.

    Bah. [insert grump icon here]

You have to make the white sauce with items from your store cupboard, which yes, probably does make this recipe cost more than a fiver...

I went to pick up a couple of these cards but the pie chart thingy was all red. Surely they should be encouraging people to eat nutritionally, not just cheaper.

Ah well that's not so bad then. You could save the extra cost by making the tomato sauce instead of buying a jar.

Yep, thay should. Though I suspect that the butter and milk in the Bechemal and the mince probably account for most of the fat, it doesn't help by using pre-prepared jars of stuff with loads of uneccessaryly added fat/sugar/salt.

Probably not if you use value ranges. Asda's Bolognaise is twenty something pee and their chinese style curry is 12p....
