Save the Date Confusion

Rebecca, 11 September, 2022 at 20:31 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 2
Looking for a sense check. Yesterday I went out with a few friends and gave them the official wedding invites. I'd given 2 of them the save the dates several months ago and they said they still had them. One of them has gone to check their phone and said that both of them are in Poland for a hen do. They then went on to start saying that they both were sure it didn't clash with my wedding as they'd apparently discussed this before confirming the hen do dates for another person as they were worried it would clash. They then said they would see what they could do... My confusion is, if they were that worried between the 2 of them, surely at least one of them could have thought to just check the save the date or contact me. Am I overthinking this? It's upset me as Im feeling I've been potentially lied to and now considering stepping back from making any effort in a friendship with them.

It seems odd if you gave save the dates already, they would know the date. Sadly, some people are not that organised and don't always check things straight away. Try not to think too much about it, hopefully they will be able to sort it out and it wont clash. As the wedding is still 9 months away I would just step back and wait to see if they contact you over next couple of weeks. It is hard as you kind of want people to RSVP immediately, but some people don't and leave it to the last minute, so try and relax and see what happens

You're right, some people can be like that and wasn't expecting an immediate response. I think it was their reasoning behind it just didn't make any sense to me whatsoever. Thank you.
