Save the dates

Katie, 1 February, 2021 at 20:44 Posted on Planning 1 15
Hi, advice needed, we are due to get married on 5th November 2022
When should we send our save the dates? My mum said too early people will forget but I also know a lot of people are pushing their wedding back and I’ve read you should give people as much notice as possible ?

Hey! If it’s any help, we are getting married in April 2022 and I sent save the dates in November and December 2020. Mainly because I was conscious so many people are postponing/holidays getting moved etc. and wanted people to have the date earmarked. If the shoe was on the other foot, I’d rather know than book something and miss out on a close friend’s wedding!

I plan on sending the actual invites once we have more clarity on the roadmap for weddings moving forward, which I anticipate will be some time this summer.
    Hope this helps! X

I'm getting married December 2022 and sent our Save the Dates this week! Why wait! Those receiving Save the Dates are people I 100% want to have there with me, if possible. The more notice I give, the greater the likelihood of that happening. Being at Christmas, too, I felt it best to ensure people were able to factor the day into any plans. x

    Hi Katie,

I don't see there being an issue with sending out your save the dates sooner rather than late. With COVID a lot of people have had to postpone holidays and other weddings over the next couple of years. You want to make sure you get your date in early so that no one gets booked up. If I was a guest, I would want ample of notice to ensure I kept the date free.

    With love,

    Laura x

Hi! 1st of all SNAP! I'm getting married the same day and in the same year Smiley laugh I've made it my priority this month to collect together all the addresses and aim to get the save the dates out by the end of this month. My fiancé thinks it's a bit early but tbh with everyone postponing holidays etc. I think it's an OK time to send them out Smiley smile normally it'd be far too early but these aren't normal times, hope that helps Smiley smile

    Hello!
We’re not getting married until September 2024 but the save the dates are on order and will go out as soon as we get them.
It’s a destination wedding so want to give people as much time/ notice so they can save/ get time off/ think of an excuse to not come ?Xx

We're also getting married 18th September so I'm relieved to hear others haven't sent save the dates yet! We only booked it in at start of January this year, and we're waiting for the announcements on 22nd in the hope we might have a better idea of how many people we can invite, but we've told our close friends and parents the date over the phone/whatsapp etc in the meantime.
