Save the dates

Teri, 25 January, 2022 at 17:37 Posted on Planning 0 8
Hey everyone,
When did you all send your save the dates? I've googled it and some say 6 months some say 1 year? I like to be super organised so I want to do mine a year in advance but is that too early? Thank you 🙏

A year is fine for save the dates, especially with people re organising holidays etc, the more notice the better, we also put a note in to say if they knew already they couldn't attend to let us know now, which 4 people did so we were able to move some people up from.the eve list and send save the dates at the sw the so didn't look like they hadn't made the first cut so to speak!

Alsobe sure you are 100% on you guest list as is difficult to retract to an evening invite once sent. We kind of want to remove a few people as we have had little or no contact with them since we sent ours but feel we can't really change it now. I would send main invites 4 months before with a 4 week deadline to reply. Then once you have your numbers you can add people if you have gaps before sending evening invites
    Hope that helps

We got engaged in Nov 2020, we sent the Save the Dates out in March 2021, we sent out the actual invitations in Jan 2022- just a couple of weeks ago. I also like to be organised and it is a summer wedding so we wanted to give people plenty of notice around school holiday time.

Thank you! We are November 2023 so I've got ages to do it, I just feel uncomfortable leaving it later than a years notice 🤣

As your wedding is November 2023, I'd send out save the dates in the January when everyone gets their new calendars and diaries Smiley smile

    Hi,

We are sending ours out now and ours is April 2023 which is a while away but most of our guests will be travelling and we have quite a few international guests so it gives them enough time to prepare as well as those that need to book the time off know well advance. We are getting married on a Saturday but we have friends who wotk in Motorsport, self employed and healthcare so some do work weekends. It seems very far away but people book holidays and work comitments quite well in advance so i do think its good for those that you would be sad if they could not make it to be told as early as you can.

I was thinking the same - we're Oct '23 and wasn't sure whether to send out invites/save the dates at the beginning of the year or leave it closer to the time. I can't cope with the idea of only knowing for certain a few weeks before lol. xx

edited to add - do you send save the dates to all guests or only ceremony guests?? xx

Exactly! Usually you still get charged for that amount of guests so if someone dropped out I want enough time to fill that space with someone else 🤣 we will only be sending save the dates and invitations to day guests and evening guests will get a separate reception invitation just incase there's any confusion 😊

I've got separate invites for day and evening only, wasn't sure about the save the date thing though.... I'm still not certain whether to send them. It seems too early to send the formal invites a year in advance though and I think I'm just itching to get them out there lol xx
