What would you do witha huge cabbage if you were about to go on holiday and therefore couldn't eat it? Can anyone suggest something I could make and freeze? Maybe I should just bin it, hmmmm.

How long are you going on holiday for? I'd leave it in the fridge and see if it still OK when I got back.

Chorizo and bean stew that will be nice with fish once defrosted. I can type the recipe up if you like?

No, still not chosen the oven KN. I just can't make up my mind. My husband think it's hilarious that I have spent so much time on this when I spent about 30 seconds thinking about my car when we bought it.

    What would you go for?

Sophie grigson has a lovely gratin recipe that is cabbage, good ham and a cheesy sort of sauce

should think that would freeze ok and you could just do the baking when youwanted to eat it

can type out if it appeals

think i may make it this week

If you don't have time to cook an actual meal, you could just blanche the cabbage and freeze by itself.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to make either Popcorn or Jess's suggestion as I have all the ingredients for those, and not do my normal false economy trick of buying something expensive to use up something cheap (like the time I bought a fillet of beef for beef wellington to use up some old pastry ?)

Popcorn, I'd be just the same- it's a hugely important decision ? We've got a Smeg- single oven but huge, 5 rings of which one is mega-powerful and one is long for fish kettles etc. It's good and I love how big the oven is- makes things like massive roasts easy and you get much more in than you would with two small ovens. I only ever wish we had two ovens when I want to grill as well as roast/bake.
