I think it's entirely up to you. I've just put Joe Bloggs, didn't want anything too formal.

    Hi Nicky

There's no right or wrong way - but maybe dependent on the level of formality of the wedding. Usually I set the full names eg Joseph Bloggs (occasionally with the title too if very formal) as it's easiest for guests to locate their own names if the first name is included - but if someone is generally known to all by a nickname or shortened name then I would use that. You can either have the full name on the place card or just their first name if you want to be less formal.

So in short - it depends on how formal/informal you want to be.

We are going informal as we have a friend called gareth but we have never called him that its always been gaz, so we are not going to change that just for the day.

If it's not formal than as said just first and last name. DO make sure though that the placecards and the table plan have the same names. It's a mare for the venue placing cards when you've used nicnames or something different instead of their real names as has happened to me!

    Oh good point Ruth.

I think we will go with 'First Name Surname' as we seem to have a lot of people with the same names so will keep things simple.

I do quite like the idea of have 'Bride' on my setting but also like the idea of seeing my new name in front of me too. Oh and Mrs. H2B & I will have to have extra big namecards!
