Service Charge Venue Hire

As it’s discretionary ask for it to come off. This ridiculous! They know that there’s loads online from an American point of view where tipping is basically compulsory. That’s not the case here because peoples wages aren’t literally subsidised by ‘tips’. So, get the £850 taken off and if you want to tip you can, but it’s not the norm here.

Is a sneaky way of getting more money, I would have it removed and personally, I don't see the need to tip a venue, as I can guarantee it wont good to the staff who worked your day. A venue quotes a fee and that should be that. I made sure our contract stated exact costs for each element of the day so there were no hidden charges

I think that is so cheeky! Definitely get it taken off!!! The service you get is included in the charge for the room hire and food and drink costs. As Tasmin says, we have a minimum wage set for staff so they should be paid fairly for a job. If there is anyone at the venue who makes the day for you, then a tip at the end is more appropriate and meaningful. Your guests may want to contribute to a tip too, we had a quick whip round the following morning for tips after my sisters wedding. (She didn't know we were doing it) we all stayed at the venue which made it easier to do this and it was really appreciated when we gave it to the wedding coordinator- she clearly wasn't expecting it.
