Shoes and shoe brooches

ForTheLoveOfMrsBrown, 26 April, 2011 at 12:19 Posted on Planning 0 8

Finally bought some shoes:

Literally couldn't see anything like what I have in my head so thought if I buy plain ones, I can add a brooch to the front. So, can anyone recommend shoe brooch suppliers? Have never used them so sorry if this is stupid but - how do they attach to the shoe? Is it reversible or permanent? Does the attachment go under the front and dig into your toes?

    Love the shoes.

If you have enough time to order from the states there are some really lovely shoe clips on Etsy. I 'm pretty sure you can take them off afterwards

Be careful what you add to your shoes. If it's a sparkly brooch it will probably have rough edges and will possibly ruin your dress hem (if it's a floor length dress). It happened to my bm who added things to her shoes and the hem of her dress was ruined before the ceremony even started and it's happened to hitchers before.

Sherrie - thanks for the links, I will work my way through them.

Lynsey - I would NEVER have thought of that, great tip (I have floorlength hem made of very delicate silk)

If you don't want to use brooches, I know there are sellers on Etsy that do shoe clips? x

I think I used the word "brooch" to mean "shoe clip" - completely new concept to me, these accessories!

Am now thinking I might leave it. My dress has a large amount of detail so probably don't need detailed shoes as well.

Be careful with the Vanilla Tree. I bought some through their ebay store but they sell via other online stores too and the quality was not great - one arrived with a stone missing and the woman was so horrible through her messages about me returning them for a refund. In the end I got the money back but after days of back and forth of awful rude emails from her. But they do seem to have the best designs from what I saw online! I didn't bother getting any more in the end and keeping my shoes plain, the lady in the dress shop said they could catch on the hem and at the worst rip the bottom, or at the very least could bunch up the hem and the dress wouldn't fall right over the shoe.

I made my own from some silk chiffon (gathered into a rosette thingy) with a small silver flower in the middle (well away from silk hems) and then glued and stitched them onto my shoes. I shall put my thinking cap on for you. Lace, perhaps?

    Hi

A friend of mine does the shoe clips through Rachel Simpson shoes - not sure if she does them direct from her own website - laurellime.co.uk but worth a try Smiley smile

Here's the link for Rachel Simpson and they do some fabric clips as well as jewelled ones if you were worried about your dress x
