Should I buy a suit? Where?

Knownowt, 18 May, 2009 at 15:04 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

I am seeing a recruitment person next week to talk about returning to work. Have just got my old suits out of the loft to find they are all moth-eaten ?

I always planned to buy a new interview suit for actual interviews but buying one now seems like tempting fate. Gargh. I'm going to have to though, aren't I? Will have to take the baby with me as well, arses (suit shopping, I mean, not to the recruitment guy ?).

Where is good for suits in London (needs to be traditional skirt suit, black or dark grey, but I'd like something well cut so that I feel I look ok). Has anyone been to that place on Chancery Lane? Otherwise JL on Oxford Street? What is Hobbs like- have always thought of it as too old for me but I fear that is no longer the case ?

I'd go to the King's Road if I were you - there's a Joseph theere I think, and a Jigsaw, Hobbs, Zara, plus Peter Jones if all else fails, and it's a bit more relaxed than Oxford Street or similar so won't be such a nightmare with the baybeh. PMSL at taking her to interviews - you could get her a little power suit of her own.

Thanks, both of you. A personal shopper is a good idea, as is the Kings Road (as is a baby in a power suit ?)

All my legal friends go to Madeleine Hamilton. If her shop is as interesting and quirky as her website it's definitely not too fuddy duddy.

(?I've been wearing Hobbs since my mid twenties)

Oops I was about to say you're still too young for Hobbs - sorry Rache ?

Karen Millen and Jigsaw are my faves for suits. Zara good on a budget. Are you tall? All those are fab for leggy birds. Kings Road is an excellent call.

? One of my fave smart skirts is from Hobbs, it's grey with white daisies on it ❤️

I didn't buy the jacket though, as I never have to wear suits.
