Should i move my wedding to 2022 ?

HappyPurpleDecor18768, 9 September, 2020 at 10:41 Posted on Planning 0 3

We are entering a second peak of Covid and my partner wants to postpone till May 2022. I don't want to postpone our wedding in May 2021 I feel its very far away to know what's going to happen.

Really want someone else's input please help!

You need to sit down with your fiance and work out what is most important to you - an earlier wedding or a bigger celebration. Think about the minimum that you would want to happen for you to feel your wedding day was good - e.g. number of guests, type & length of celebration and that will give you a better idea of how much of an impact Covid is likely to have on it.

If your heart is set on a really big party with loads of people, then you have much more chance of this happening in 2022. If you're happier with something smaller - or maybe a small ceremony now and a bigger party later on - then 2021 should be ok.

Sadly, no one can give you a guarantee about what Covid will do. Just keep your focus on your OH and why you are getting married and you'll work through this. Our wedding was nothing like we'd planned, due to Covid, but we still had a wonderful day because we each got to say 'I do' to our best friend. So just keep reminding yourself that whatever happens, at some point you get to be married to your best friend!

    Thank you for your reply.

As much as I want a big celebration I'd be ok with a smaller get together because the main thing is you end up married to your partner.

Can't stand the thought of waiting another year.

Then go for it! Our wedding ended up being later than planned and because restrictions had only just lifted, we were only able to have a handful of guests, a very short ceremony and no reception. And in spite of all that, it was SUCH a special day. Obviously, we were sad that a few of our close friends were unable to be there due to travel restrictions - but we have no regrets at all at marrying when we did instead of waiting. And I think people were glad to have some good news to talk about instead of Covid!
