Side effects of Flucloxacillin

Pickled Eggs, 27 June, 2008 at 22:20 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

Is it normal to have a really raised bumpy rash all over my body ? I have developed this today and its as itchy as ***. I have been taking anti-histamines but they haven't really touched the itch. I have read the PIL but it doesn't really say.

?

<not a doctor> /medicine/flucloxacillin-for-infection this says a rash is a common side effect and to see a doctor if it persists

Well, they always say that if the side effects become unbearable / cause real problems then you should contact a medical proffessional

Did the rash come up after the first dose?

2 options. Either it's an allergic reaction, or you have/have had a virus that reacts with penicillin to cause a rash (glandular fever is an example).

Or, because I'm not an expert, there's a third option that I don't know about.

In any case, I'd stop taking them for the moment and get a medical opinion tomorrow.

Yes, you can changed. My allergies didn't start until I was in my early 20s. And very oddly, some of them have disappeared since I had a baby.

Hope it's not an allergic reaction, but best to get checked. If you do get any wheezing or shortness of breath at all, definitely get seen by someone.
