Signing the register...with your old name or new one!?

Pink Roses, 11 June, 2015 at 21:50 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi everyone,

I've asked everyone I know and no one can tell me whether when signing the register do you sign it with your 'old'/maiden name or do you sign it with your 'new' married name!?

I just thought it would be nice to know incase they throw it at you at the time and I haven't practiced my new signature!

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I asked my wedding planner and she said you sign with your maiden name, the certificate itself is proof of the name change

Thats brilliant thanks! Another query solved!

Apologies if it seemed like silly question to ask, I think as I'm only just starting out with the planning my head is swimming with questions and ideas!

    Thanks again!

It's your old signature because it's the record that you, ie maiden name, are marrying your OH. X

I wondered this too, thanks for asking! Goodness I hadn't thought about making a new signature. Off to do that right now!

My H's signature before he took my name was just a scribble. Now it's still a scribble, but with more letters in it.
