Silk flowers cost

Julie48, 6 of August of 2015 at 13:21 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi Girls

I've been looking for someone to do me a silk bouquet and I've managed to find someone local to me but I have no idea how her price compares with others. She is quoting me £40 for my bouquet and £10 for my little girls posy, it sounds too cheap to me, what do you think? Also how does this price compare with real flowers?

Thanks girls

Hi - I recently retired and specialised in artificial wedding flowers for 23 years. There is an old saying that you get what you pay for and where artificial flowers are concerned, you do need to do your research carefully. Whilst there are some extremely lifelike artificial flowers around, the price of them is on a par with fresh. There are basically 3 types of artificial flowers and these are budget which look artificial and not particularly great for a wedding, foam flowers which can look beautiful but because they are all short stemmed, you can be restricted to the style of bouquet you want. The foam flowers don't have realistic foliage but the flowers are good and are sold by the bunch. . And then there are premium range artificial flowers which are extremely lifelike and are sold per stem so are the most expensive.

I would ask to see the quality of the flowers - you could buy a sample buttonhole from her. This way you get to see the quality of the flowers as well as the quality of her workmanship.

    Hope that helps.

I'm paying £260 for my bouquet, 4 BM bouquets, 1 superhero buttonhole and 8 normal buttonholes - but my bouquet is being custom made to a picture I've seen.

I did research before I booked mine and discovered you can pay next to nothing, an absolute fortune and everything inbetween - if she can do what you want and you've seen examples of her work then it seems okay. Just make sure you nail down exactly what you want, and confirm in writing or with a picture, so you have a recourse if it isn't right.

I'm planning to use someone off ebay for silk however she is local ish to me and is happy for me to go and see her work etc. I'm doing that before I commit even tho I love the photos.

i would definately have a look first. Either visit if possible or great advise above order a corsage to see the flowers used. Better to waste one than be unhappy with all.

Im paying (all being well) 55.00 for silk roses with winter berries bride and around 10-15 depending on size for buttonholes for men and women.

Thanks girls for all of your replies.

I will definitely ask to see some of her work. I've looked at photographs of her previous weddings and they are all stunning but obviously photos can hide a huge amount!! I've also read her reviews and they are all glowing but as you all say its a good idea to see her work for myself.

    Thanks again for replying
