Silver wedding dress! But what goes with it?

terrembo, 21 July, 2012 at 19:26 Posted on Planning 0 11

Dear all

I have fallen in love with (and bought) a silver wedding dress for a winter wedding - I am so pleased with it however, I am now facing a few issues withe my colour scheme....

any help or suggestions would be hugely appreciated...

1) Bridesmaid colours..... I was thinking of charcoacl grey for the two adult bridesmiads, the groomsmen are going to be grey morning suits. is it all going to look elegant or far too drab with different shades of grey?

2) Bridesmaid colour option two......burgundy - winter colour and probably safer??

3) Flower girl dress? I have read on foryms shw is menat to be in the same colour as the bride but am concerned that she will look a little washed out in silver, would white be an option???

4) Cover up for a silver dress - anyone know of any coverups which would compliment a silver dress?? would like a fur stole but not sure what colour to go with??

many thanks -

Our colour scheme is dark raspberry pink and silver. I'm wearing ivory bridesmaids in the pink, boys in black / grey suits with grey waistcoat and silver tie, flower girls in ivory and pink, MOB in shades of grey and silver. Our wedding is November. I was originally going to have charcoal grey bridesmaids with just the pink flowers, but decided to brighten things up a bit by bringing in more colour.

Silver looks amazing with hot pinks, blues and vibrant reds. A lot depends on the skin tone of your bridesmaids as to whether they would be able to 'carry off' shades of grey. Grey is a bit like black and white in that on the wrong skin tone, it is very ageing. You could have the bridesmaids in ivory with a silver sash and use other colours to accent the wedding theme.

Ivory with a silver sash sounds lovely.. that's what I'd do.

I think if the littlies were in silver then it would be too much - an accent of your colour would be perfect and you can get lovely little silver shoes too..

Midnight blue would look lovely with the silver and you could have shades of grey too, right down to a very light, almost ivory, grey. The silver can be your accent colour so could be sashes on the FG, grooms cravat etc. If you want another colour then the raspberry pink someone suggested would be amazing against the blue and would go with silver.

    Hi,

Pink, either pastel or vibrant would go with silver or mocha neutral tones. actually most colours will go with it. Why not take a swatch of something similar to your dress colour around with you to try it against things.

    Hope this helps

I don't think a silver dress is any more limiting than a white or ivory gown but a vibrant colour would look gorgeous and I don't think just because it's winter you need to have darker colours. The suggestion of a dark raspberry with the grey suits would be stunning.
