Sirloin steak for dinner - what to serve with?

alison76, 31 March, 2008 at 14:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

My H went shopping at the weekend and bought us some sirloin steaks for tea tonight. I wouldn't normally buy steak myself and have never actually cooked them before.

I've found what looks like a simple enough pan frying recipe by googling but have you any recommendations for something very easy and quick to do with it?

I've got some potato wedges to serve with but can't think what else.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I'd go for mash and veg, but if you already have the wedges I'd use them with veg.

Ignore Puddled and stay away from the mushrooms.[xx(]?

    Mushrooms, onions, salad, roasted veg.

Roasted veg is our fave with steak.

    oh and crusty warm bread.?

You cant go wrong with a nice salad and homemade chips.

My favourite at the moment though is to cook mushrooms and leeks together, chuck in a handful of peas, add some cream and crushed black peppercorns and simmer until the cream has gone thickish.

And serve on the side of the very rare steak.

    Yum.

I would serve the steak with homemade chunky chips, mushrooms, homemade onion rings and a little bit of salad.

We had sirloin last night was yummy.

We had it with homemade chips and peas, and N had a fried egg with his.

Veg would be nice too, and I agree with the mushrooms and maybe a tomato?

We'll be having sirloin steaks next week, and will have then with oven roasted veg (potatoe wedges, BNS, peppers, courgette etc) and a lovely homemade piazzola sauce ?

Oh and I grill my steaks - its quicker, uses less oil and gives them a lovely charred edge?
