Sit down (knife and fork) buffet?

Callmechar, 16 October, 2010 at 18:52 Posted on Planning 0 1

We are getting married 9th July 2011. We are hiring the village hall (its lovely!) and are hiring the cutlery and crockery...we are going to have a cold sit down bufffet. Any ideas on what we could serve?

Thanks!

We're having pretty much the same thing - village hall, hiring bits etc! But we're having a tea party for the wedding breakfast (ceremony guests) (think high tea at harrods), then we're going to have a cold buffet in the evening, which is going to be a ploughman's. Mum's idea! In theory, should be nice and easy, cold meats, fresh bread, chutneys and pickles, lots of lovely cheese and massive pork pies! We're planning on it all being easy to put out and no making of sandwiches etc, plus mum's going to make the chutnies and dad's goign to make the pickled onions so it'll have that 'homemade' feel to it that I want!

Sliced meats always go down well, a nice beef or ham along with a selection of flans/quiches and salads eg/ potato, rice, tomatoe and green. Coronation Chicken always goes down well too. All of these things are easy to prepare in bulk and not too fiddly and is easily self served using serving cutlery reducing the need of fingers touching the food.
