Sleeping on the night before the wedding - How?!

Hannah, 16 January, 2022 at 11:41 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 4
Our wedding isn’t until next year, but I’m already stressing so much about getting no sleep the night before the wedding that it’s giving me insomnia now! As a very anxious person I worry so much about things going ‘perfectly’ which is such a toxic trait I know, and the thought of something going wrong/getting no sleep/feeling rubbish on the day is overwhelming. I can’t even sleep the night before a flight or anything I’m super excited for now…so how the heck am I going to get any sleep before the big day eeeeeeeek. Any tips would be appreciated!

Hello, feeling anxious about the wedding process is completely normal! I am also quite an anxious person and have too been worried about every aspect of the wedding!!

When I was MOH to my sister she was worried about not sleeping the night before (this is normal because you’re anxious and excited). So I shared a bed with her, do you have a friend or someone who could stay with you? You could even have your FH stay with you and then you separate early next morning.
St.Johns wart is a natural herbal remedy that helps you relax and sleep (although if you’re on the contraceptive pill then don’t use it as it reduces the pills effectiveness. I have also taken this before exams where I’ve had little sleep. I’ve also used sleep spray and sleep balm, these have really helped with my sleep when I’m anxious! They are natural also. With these remedies it might be worth taking them now or trying it to see how you feel the next day. When I’ve taken them I’ve never felt drowsy the next day but With other sleep stuff I have.
It might also be worth having a bath the night before and just relaxing with the people you love the most! Telling them that you’re feeling anxious will also help. Maybe you could have a massage too to wind down?
See what works for you but there are ways around it, I hope you manage to find something ☺️

It's ok to be anxious or nervous. get some lavender sleep spray for the pillow and possibly for your wrists will help you calm has calamine in it too. Helps my little one calm he has adhd and he sleeps poorly but this helps. makes lists and it will all come together. Remember you are not alone people will help if asked. You got this good luck x

Maybe book in a couple of hours the day before for a long walk, run or just something that burns off some energy and get you tired out? Although it's great you'll be excited getting your mind off it might help which physical activity does do x

I am the same! I can’t sleep before a flight or an exciting event. I think that telling yourself you won’t sleep, and working yourself up and trying to come up with lots of ways to ensure you will sleep usually backfires. I think sometimes accepting you probably will have a restless night as you’re so excited/nervous is the way to go. I have read up that a lot of brides don’t sleep or have a bad nights sleep the day before - but their excitement and adrenaline keeps them awake on their wedding day!
